Literacy Volunteers of Charlottesville/Albemarle is pleased to present this first annual concert to benefit our work helping adults in the community learn to read, write and/or speak English. We have a wonderful day planned for you...with five fantastic bands from the Charlottesville area, wine tasting, great food, kids activities, a vendor fair, and much more!
From the smooth but powerful voice of Andy Waldeck to the tight funky jams of Darrell Rose & the International Councillors, to the not-your-average country style of Jim Waive & the Young Divorcees and Six Day Bender, to the eclectic sounds of Junior Moment & the Fun Thieves, the lineup offers a showcase of the area's musical diversity. Band merchandise will be for sale under the big tent, as will information from our wonderful festival sponsors!
There will be fun activities for the kids throughout the day provided by North Branch School, and a wide variety of super-tasty but reasonably priced food will be available from Botali's Catering. Local artists and crafters will feature their handmade wares in the vendor market, and of course Cardinal Point has bottles of wine for sale as well as a selection of neat wine-related gifts.
The fine folks at Cardinal Point Winery will be our hosts for the day, and if you haven't visited the winery before you are in for a real treat. Located just a few miles west of Charlottesville in Afton, Cardinal Point offers a wonderful selection of wines in a beautiful mountain setting. Their wines have won medals in national and international competitions, and recently won gold in the prestigious Virginia Governor's Cup. Virginia Vine Spot says "Cardinal Point is definitely a must visit if you are on the Monticello Wine Trail."
So come on out...bring your friends...and your family. Tickets are available on this site, and will be offered at several locations in Charlottesville beginning June 23rd. We're going to have a great time at the Reading Rocks benefit for Literacy Volunteers of Charlottesville/Albemarle - celebrating 25 years!
